Compare Income Eligibility

Many residents in Counties of northern New York are eligible for a free or reduced cost residential energy audit, through the GREEN JOBS GREEN NEW YORK (GJGNY) program.

A free energy audit is available for North Country residents with annual household income less than 200 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).

NYSERDA has Incentives for Grid Connected Solar and Wind Electricity Generation Systems:

You can choose to purchase your energy through a service company that sells electricity generated with renewable fuels (such as wind, small hydro, biomass, solar, etc.) Here is a list of energy suppliers offering "green" energy products:

Choose a Contractor that is trained and certified to take a "whole-house" approach when identifying comfort, safety and energy efficiency improvements for your home.

Additionally, look for Contractors that have been prequalified by the incentives programs to perform the eligible work.

To encourage customers to buy energy efficient products, ENERGY STAR partners occasionally sponsor special offers, such as sales tax exemptions or credits, or rebates on qualified products. Partners also occasionally sponsor recycling incentives for the proper disposal of old products.

A “Green Mortgage" or Energy Efficient Mortgage (EEM) is a mortgage that credits a home's energy efficiency in the mortgage itself. EEMs give borrowers the opportunity to finance cost-effective, energy-saving measures as part of a single mortgage and stretch debt-to-income qualifying ratios on loans thereby allowing borrowers to qualify for a larger loan amount and a better, more energy-efficient home.

To get an EEM a borrower typically has to have a home energy rater conduct a home energy rating before financing is approved. This rating verifies for the lender that the home is energy-efficient.
